Authorities have made an arrest in last week’s shooting outside of the Hells Angels biker club (link is external) in the East Village, police sources said.
Anthony Iovenitti, 52, was busted on Tuesday, exactly one week after cops say he shot 25-year-old David Martinez, following a dispute.
Martinez was with friends just before 1:30 a.m. when he attempted to move an orange traffic cone outside the club headquarters on E. 3rd street, so that their car could pass a taxi.
That prompted angry bikers to come out and confront the men. Iovenitti threw the first punch and was shoved the ground by Martinez. He then whipped out a gun and shot the younger man in the stomach, sources said.
Martinez is recovering in the hospital, in stable condition. Iovenitti also has an open assault case from October of this year, when he reportedly shoved someone to the ground, causing them to hit their head on a fire hydrant, sources said.
Police could not confirm whether Iovenitti is indeed a member of the biker Club.
