Cops arrest 24 in massive raid at Brooklyn biker club

Cops on Saturday morning busted 24 people and seized five handguns during a raid of an afterhours Brooklyn motorcycle club that has a reputation as a problem spot, police sources said.


Dozens of cops barged into the God’s Only Demons Motorcycle Club on Butler Street near Fourth Avenue in Gowanus around 4 a.m., witnesses said.
“The whole precinct was here,” said a witness who declined to give his name. “About 80 cops or more. Armored police vans, SWAT gear, dogs. Crazy. I haven’t seen that many cops here ever. They went up on the roofs.”


Ten people at the club face gun charges, said police sources. The other 14 people were picked up for having outstanding arrest warrants. Police sources said those arrested included 18 men and six women.
“I saw them leave with the ‘GOD’ vests,” the witness said. “I don’t know why, but they were taking the vests.”


Each person arrested had plastic zip ties on their wrists, another witness said. About two or three dozen more zip ties littered the ground outside the club. A white Lexus – that witnesses said may have belonged to someone who was arrested – was parked outside.


Another neighbor called the police raid “super organized.”
“All these cops came at the same time and just went in,” he said, noting the presence of SWAT team, dogs, helicopters and M-16s. “It was not just five cops or 10 cops… I had the cops on my roof, as well.”


Back in 2014, the city lawyers filed a lawsuit to boot the club from its one-story brick building in Gowanus, calling the biker group a “public nuisance” that “endangers the safety or health of members of the surrounding community,” The Post reported at the time.


The lawyers cited an October 2012 murder that went down outside the club. Alberto Pena, 33, was shot and killed after getting in a fight with another man inside the joint.
“I remember that day,” a neighbor told the Post. “It was Saturday morning, same like today. 7 o’clock in the morning. They had the fights like normal. But that day they started shooting – they started shooting for real. Several shots.”


He said the club often brings in early-morning fights, where gunshots are often fired.
“I don’t think anybody wants to have these neighbors,” he added.
