Feds arrest 19 Lucchese crime family mobsters, including leadership, charges them with racketeering and murder
Agents arrested nineteen members of the Lucchese crime family this morning. Among them, the mob family’s leadership: acting boss Matthew Madonna; underboss Steven Crea; and consigliere Joseph DiNapoli. The defendants face various federal racketeering charges, including the 2013 murder of mob hitman Michael Meldish. The FBI’s Organized Crime Task Force and officers of the New York Police Department made the arrests.
A press conference will be held later today in which prosecutors are expected to release more information and details about those mobsters under indictment and the investigation that ensnared them. According to recent information, the Lucchese family is currently being led by Matthew Madonna and Steven Crea, while boss Vittorio Amuso continues serving life in prison. Madonna is known best for his past ties to Harlem drug kingpin Leroy Nicky Barnes. Crea was released from prison in 2006 after doing time for labor racketeering. DiNapoli is currently in prison on gambling charges.
