The sergeant-at-arms for the Sydney chapter of one of Europe’s most dangerous bikie gangs has been arrested and charged with drugs and firearms offices. An alleged key player with the Satudarah bikie gang, Mitchell Mcphail, 26, was arrested by specialist police officers attached to Strike Force Raptor after a search of his St Marys home on Wednesday evening where they seized a rifle, ammunition, knuckledusters, a quantity of ice and clothing with the club's emblem.
Mr Mcphail was taken to Penrith Police Station and charged with possessing a shortened firearm, ammunition and a weapon without a permit, possessing an unregistered firearm, failing to correctly store a firearm and possessing and supplying drugs.
One of Europe’s most notorious outlaw motorcycle clubs, Satudarah is known for its extreme violence, drugs, extortion and weapons trafficking. It was formed by immigrants in the Netherlands in 1990, and has since spread across Europe and to other parts of the World.
Unlike most bikie gangs, Satudarah allows members of any ethnicity to join.
In 2016, police said they had put a halt to the club’s attempt to expand into Australia by arresting four senior members and shutting the gang’s Bankstown clubhouse after learning it was attempting to recruit Sydney members via Facebook.
The gang used social media for its recruitment and we believe they used it to communicate with the head office of Satudarah in the Netherlands which sanctioned them setting up here,” said gang squad boss Detective Superintendent Deb Wallace at the time.
A 26-year-old woman who also lived at the St Marys address was issued with a future court attendance notice for the alleged possession of a knife found at the home.
