Three Mongols arrested for provoking deadly fight

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - New information from the Bakersfield Police Department shows four affiliates of the Mongols Motorcycle Club were involved in a deliberate plan to provoke a confrontation with rival members of the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club that ultimately led to a member of the Mongols being shot and killed.

The shooting happened May 5, 2018. Ricardo Viera, who had a known affiliation with the Mongols, fired one round into a crowd of people at the event using an illegal firearm. At least one person suffered minor injuries.

Another person then retrieved a legally owned handgun and fired several rounds at Viera, killing him.

BPD said the three other Mongols involved in provoking the fight are 40-year-old Christopher Clay Wilson, 45-year-old Eliseo Ray Miranda and 37-year-old Arturo Desiderio. All three have been arrested on conspiracy, gang participation, attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon charges.
