A POLICE Strike Force established to investigate motorcycle gang activity on the mid north coast has netted an arrest in Port Macquarie.
A man, who police believe to be a high-ranking member of the Finks motorcycle gang (OMCG), has been charged with a string of alleged offences following the execution of a search warrant in a residential area of Port Macquarie on August 1. Strike Force Addax was established in January 2018 by Mid North Coast Police District investigators to target OMCG activity across the region.
At 11.30am on Wednesday, Strike Force investigators, with the assistance of Raptor North, executed a search warrant at a home in Thrumster, west of Port Macquarie.
During the search, police allegedly located and seized methylamphetamine, cash, a push dagger, and a Rolex watch suspected to be stolen or otherwise unlawfully obtained.
All items were secured for forensic analysis.
A man, 38-year-old Adam Smith, and a woman, 35-year-old Skye Julie Smith, were arrested at the home. They were both taken to Port Macquarie Police Station where they were later charged.
Smith, 38, faced the magistrate at Port Macquarie local Court on Thursday, August 2 on multiple charges including reckless grievous bodily harm; attempted kidnap and threatening person with the intent to influence a witness; demanding property with menace; assault occasioning actual bodily harm; two counts of possessing a weapon without a permit; three counts of possessing a prohibited drug; six counts of supplying a prohibited drug; goods in custody; dealing with the proceeds of crime; supplying a prohibited drug in a commercial quantity, and contravening a weapons prohibition order.
Smith, who police believe is a high-ranking member of the Finks OMCG, was refused bail and will reappear in Port Macquarie Local Court on August 9.
Skye Smith was charged with knowingly take part in the supply of a prohibited drug and two counts of possessing prohibited drug.
She was granted bail and will reappear in Port Macquarie Local Court on August 9.
