JOINT MEDIA RELEASE - Hells Angels targeted as part of national day of action

Queensland Police have taken enforcement action against members and associates of the Hells Angels Outlaw Motorcycle Gang (OMCG). The Day of Action was supported by law enforcement agencies across Australia coordinated through the national Taskforce Morpheus network.

Queensland’s efforts were focused on Hells Angels members in Brisbane, Logan and the Gold Coast and was coordinated by officers from the Organised Crime Gangs Group, Maxima Tactical Unit Gold Coast and supported by the Gold Coast Rapid Action and Patrol Group, detectives from the Logan and Gold Coast Criminal Investigation branches and the Major and Organised Crime Squad Gold Coast.

Search warrants were executed this morning at homes on Harley Drive in Burleigh Heads, Darnay Road in Broadbeach Waters, Cornell Court in Varsity Lakes, Starling Street in Loganlea and Holder Street in Loganholme.

A 44-year-old Burleigh Heads man and Gold Coast chapter president was given a notice to appear to answer the charge of possess prohibited item and wear a prohibited item in a public place in the Southport Magistrates Court on October 12.

A 42-year-old Broadbeach Waters man was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a weapon (handgun), possess dangerous drugs, possess explosives (ammunition) and unlawful possession of a weapon (knuckledusters). He is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on September 26.

A 66-year-old Varsity Lakes man was charged with three drug-related offences and drug diverted. A 31-year-old Loganlea man and Logan chapter president was arrested and charged with possession of dangerous drugs (steroids), unlawful possession of weapon, unlawful possession of explosives (ammunition) and possess utensils. He is due to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on October 2.

A 43-year-old Loganholme man was charged with two counts of produce dangerous drugs. He is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow. A 30-year-old Loganholme woman was given a notice to appear to answer two counts of the charge produce dangerous drugs.

Six consorting notices were also issued including to the Gold Coast chapter president.
Property seized during the searches included a Hells Angels prohibited item, a .22 calibre handgun, amphetamines, knuckledusters, cannabis, steroids, a flick knife and ammunition. Mobile phones were also seized and further examination will be conducted.

The Queensland Police Service will continue to relentlessly target members and associates of Outlaw Motorcycle Gang across the state to disrupt, dismantle and prosecute criminal activity.

Police Minister Mark Ryan congratulated the Queensland Police Service following today’s series of coordinated raids.
“Today’s operation targeting members of the Hells Angels outlaw bikie gang is further proof that the Government’s tough organised crime and anti-gang laws are working,” Minister Ryan said.
“Our laws are the strongest, toughest, most comprehensive laws in the nation.
“That’s why so many of the other states are looking to copy our laws.
“‘The Day of Action’ operation resulted in the arrest of several gang members on the Gold Coast and in the Logan region.
“I commend the Queensland Police Service for its relentless efforts targeting organised crime.
“The message from police to criminals is clear.
“There is nowhere to run, nowhere to hide.
“The Queensland Police Service and its specialist anti-gang taskforce will never stop disrupting and dismantling criminal networks.”
