Gang member back behind bars after SWAT and gang unit make early morning arrest

WILMINGTON — A Wilmington gang member is in jail after being arrested for drug trafficking Thursday morning.
According to Linda Thompson, WPD spokeswoman, “26-year-old, Jarrin Anthony Clarida, a validated gang member is behind bars this morning. The arrest came after a month-long investigation into a drug distribution operation by the Wilmington Police Department’s Gang Unit.”

Clarida was wanted by the state for violating his parole on a previous drug charge sentence.

“Members with the department’s Gang and Vice Units along with SWAT executed a search warrant early this morning at Clarida’s home at 1014 Love Alley and yielded trafficking amounts of heroin, drug paraphernalia, marijuana, MDMA (Ecstasy) and over $5000.00 in cash. Clarida was charged with trafficking heroin, maintaining a dwelling to sell and deliver controlled substances, sell and deliver controlled substances within 1000 feet of a school, possession of marijuana, possession of MDMA, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Clarida is currently being held in New Hanover County Jail under a $415,000 secured bond.
