Birmingham police identified the victim as Christopher Lawson. He was 36.
Birmingham’s West Precinct officers responded about 8:40 p.m. to the 6100 block of Grove Avenue.

Once on the scene, they found an adult black male lying in a ditch next to his motorcycle. The motorcycle was still upright with the kickstand in place.

Lawson was pronounced dead on the scene. Birmingham police Sgt. Johnny Williams said Lawson was believed to have attended a party in the area. Investigators do not have a motive for the shooting and were getting little information from the scene Saturday night.
