At the trial of Alek Minassian on Nov. 12, 2020, the judge was shown an odd video of the man who admits he was the driver during the Toronto van attack in 2018. The video is a college class assignment with two others, to produce a mock television commercial for a make-believe technical product they call “Glassphone,” a set of glasses that act as a wearable smartphone.
Minassian pleaded not guilty, although he admits he did it. His lawyer said his state of mind at the time of his attack makes him not criminally responsible.
