Mafia fugitive caught by his YouTube cooking videos

Life on the run cut short for Mafia fugitives from Italy; one caught at a hospital in Portugal after catching COVID-19; another shopping in Spain; and one on a Caribbean island after cops recognized his tattoos in his wife’s YouTube cooking videos.
The Mob Reporter here with news of why a dozen Mafia fugitives from the ‘Nghangheta — one the world’s most successful criminal networks — who were on the run from Italian Justice have been bagged abroad in the last 10 months. One was Marc Feren Claude Biart, of the Cacciola clan of Rosarno, Calabria, Italy. He was on a Caribbean island, outside of the Santo Domingo, the capital of the Dominican Republic. Biart never showed his face in the YouTube cooking videos for Italian food. But there was enough of his bare arms for officers to trace his tattoos. He was arrested March 24, 2021.
Francesco Pelle, 43, known by the nickname “Ciccio Pakistan” is a member of the Pelle clan of San Luca, Calabria. He has been a fugitive for his role in a feud in San Luca between rival mob clans. He was found ag=fter checking into a hospital in Lison, Portugal, for Covid.
Giuseppe Romeo, 34, was found in Barcelona, Spain, on March 12, 2021, when police tailed him to Sant Gervasi market. These guys are just three of a dozen ‘Ndrangheta fugitives caught in other countries in the last 10 months. Police told me there were 3 in Argentina, 2 in Albania, 2 in Spain, and one each in Canada, Switzerland, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, and Portugal. Interpol, the international criminal police organization, is coordinating an international effort funded by the Italian government called the I-CAN Project, short for “Interpol Cooperation Against 'Ndrangheta.” The project includes 11 countries, including those where there is a significant ‘Ndrangheta presence. Italy is joined by the United States, Canada, Germany, Australia, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, France, Switzerland and Uruguay.
