Meet Jabril Abdalla. If you’re like almost everyone, the only time you might have heard of him was when police in Hamilton, Ontario, announced in 2018 they’d cracked two mob hits and pinned it on a team of three Hamilton men. Alas, two of them had flown to Mexico before they could be arrested and were nowhere to be found: Michael Cudmore and Daniel Tomassetti. That left just one guy holding the bag.
What Abdalla said to police, testified in court and told me, was yes, he drove Cudmore and Tomassetti around for extra money, but didn’t know anything about what they were up to. It’s not just him who says that. The prosecutors and the judge agreed.
He has a warning for other young men circling about the underworld, looking to make money. Smarten up, don’t make the same mistakes he made.
