It’s extremely rare that a handful of accused men together face the charges of torture, kidnapping, administering poison, extortion, robbery and deprivation of liberty.

But the abduction of entrepreneur Eduardus Groenewegen and Belgian model Caroll Dufail two years ago isn’t like most crimes.

Snatched from their Raceview, Queensland home by a gang of masked men in October 2019, Eduardus and Caroll were then forced into a white van and interrogated about the entry code to a safe.

Refusing to reveal anything, the wealthy couple were driven around for six hours and tortured in the back of the van, Ipswich Magistrates Court, northeast Australia heard.

Then they were dumped in a nearby bushland and left for dead.

The six men accused of perpetrating the heinous attack are alleged to be members of the Lone Wolves motorcycle outlaw gang.

CCTV footage and data from encrypted chat app Cipher led state prosecutors to Nathan John Miller, Mark Clinton Atta-Singh, Jordan Roman Brennan, Saleh Atasoy, Justin John Kuhner and Brodie Jeet Singh.

Details of the alleged poisoning of Eduardus and Caroll aren’t known.
