Police interrogation of a serial killer — then they let him go: Bruce Mc...

In 2016, Toronto police interviewed a man who, unbeknownst to them was a dangerous serial killer, after a victim complained he had choked him. After the interrogation Bruce McArthur was released without charge. He would go on to kill at least two more of his eight known victims.
McArthur was arrested in January 2018. A year later, he pleaded guilty to eight counts of first-degree murder. His victims were all gay men who went missing between 2010 and 2017. He was given a life sentence with no possibility of parole for 25 years.

The police handling of the missing person cases for so long has been intensely criticized. This interrogation video was released by order of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice after ruling it was wrongfully withheld by police. It is the first time the public has been able to view the interview and scrutinize the actions of police.
