Scheduled Execution (10/20/22): Benjamin Robert Cole - Oklahoma Death Row

Benjamin Cole (57), is scheduled to be executed on October 20, 2022 for the murder of his 9-month-old daughter Brianna Cole in December, 2002 in Claremore, Oklahoma. Cole’s wife, Susan Young, was also charged with child abuse and served time for failing to seek immediate medical attention. They lived a block away from a hospital! (Claremore Indian Hospital) A clemency hearing for Benjamin Cole took place on September 27th. Defense lawyers argued that Cole suffers from severe mental illness, paranoid schizophrenia, and brain damage. The clemency board decided that Cole is the same person he was 20 years ago and voted 4 to 1 against clemency. I apologize for several times mispronouncing the city of Claremore in Oklahoma when I said “Claremont”.
